Citaat:
nitially, domestic animals were allowed to enter as long as they were on a leash. It turns out that most people did not comply with this basic and simple rule.
But this was not the main reason to adopt the current stance. With the strong temperatures that are felt in the Paiva Passage, the wood of this infrastructure also reaches high temperatures, which is not at all pleasant and advisable for animals to walk. We had animals that arrived at the end of the course with their paws completely scalded and injured from walking so long on such a hot floor.
In addition, not all owners are careful enough to ensure the well being of their animals along the route. Many owners who passed through here didn't give water to the animals and we had cases of very dehydrated dogs to the point that a Labrador even succumbed to the heat.
These serious situations and many others less serious but equally unpleasant, forced us to take a position that, contrary to what it may seem, aims at the protection of animals and not their exclusion.
We recognize that there are many responsible owners who would take every care and some more to ensure the quality of their best friend's walk. However, checking the irresponsibility of many other owners, we recognize that animals have no conditions to visit the Paiva Walkway due to its peculiar characteristics (construction material, distance, degree of difficulty, ...) and we were forced, unfortunately, to generalize and adopt measures.
We know the inconvenience we caused to the truly animal friendly people and to these we apologize.
We hope you understand the situation and that you have nice and pleasant walks with your best friend.
